Overview
Isobutene (2-methylpropylene, 2-methyl-1-propylene) is used as the main monomer in the synthesis of polyisobutylene rubber, butyl rubber, and isoprene. It is also widely used as medicine, pesticides, antioxidants, synthetic advanced lubricants, gasoline additives and raw materials for other fine chemical products.
Isobutene is a colorless and transparent gas at room temperature and can become a transparent liquid after being pressurized. Relative density 0.5879(25℃), boiling point-6.9℃, flash point-77℃. Insoluble in water, easily soluble in organic solvents, easy to polymerize, and easy to react with a variety of chemicals. Inflammable and explosive.
Isobutene is stored in pressurized gas cylinders. At 40 ° C, the pressure of the gas cylinders is greater than 0.98MPa and requires good tightness. Store it in a cool and ventilated warehouse, away from fire and heat sources, prevent direct sunlight, and store it separately from oxidants and oxygen.
