Overview
Tert-butanol is used to synthesize pesticides, herbicides, flavors and denatured alcohols; an important antioxidant and stabilizer in the synthetic plastics industry; and used to synthesize artificial musks and pharmaceutical intermediates.
Tert-butanol is a colorless and transparent liquid at room temperature with an odor of camphor. The boiling point is 82.8℃, it can be miscible with water in any ratio, and can be soluble in various organic solvents such as alcohols, ethers, and fats. Volatile, flammable and toxic.
Tert-butanol can be transported in clean and intact tank trucks or galvanized iron drums. Avoid exposure during transportation and store it in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. Avoid direct sunlight. Store it separately from oxidants. The storage or transportation temperature in winter should not be lower than-4℃, and stored and transported according to the regulations for flammable chemicals.
