Trifluoroacetic anhydride (TFAA, trifluoroacetic anhydride, trifluoroacetic anhydride), chemical formula C4F6O3, is a pungent, volatile colorless liquid, hygroscopic, toxic, and corrosive. It is commonly used as a solvent, catalyst, organic synthesis, dehydration condensing agent, as biologically active compounds in gas chromatography analysis, trifluoroacetylation of hydroxyl and amino groups, protective agent for primary and secondary amines, and also used in the oxidation of aldehydes to acids, esters and amines. It can also be used as a raw material for the preparation of organic fluorine fine chemicals, medicines, and pesticides.
