R13 refrigerant is also alias R-13, Freon 13, F13, F-13, CFC13, CFC-13, trifluorochloromethane. The trade names include Freon 13, etc., the Chinese name trifluoro-chloromethane, the English name Chlorotrifluoromethane, and the chemical formula CClF3. Since R13 belongs to the CFC class (the first batch of restricted ODS substances, Class I Ozone-deploying Substances), which is harmful to the ozone layer and has a greenhouse effect, in developed and some developing countries, initial installation on new refrigeration equipment or re-addition on old equipment has been stopped; China stopped the production of R13 refrigerant and initial installation on new refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment in 2007.
As a widely used cryogenic refrigerant, R13 is mainly used in cryogenic equipment such as ultra-low temperature refrigerators or freezers, blood bank refrigerators, freezers/freeze dryers, environmental test chambers/equipment (cold and hot shock testers), biochemical test chambers, etc.(including scientific refrigeration, medical refrigeration, etc.), and is mostly used in the low temperature section of these cascade refrigeration systems. Trifluoro-monochloromethane can also be used as a fire extinguishing agent. withR22The composed refrigeration system is used for ultra-low temperature refrigeration devices at-80~-120℃. It is also used as a blowing agent in foam plastics.

R13 Storage and transportation
R13 refrigerant cylinders are high-pressure containers. When stored, they should be kept away from fire, heat sources, and avoid direct exposure to the sun. They should be stored in a cool, dry and ventilated warehouse; they should be loaded and unloaded lightly during handling to prevent cylinders, valves and other accessories from being damaged.
