Ethyl trifluoroacetoacetate, also known as "ethyl-4,4,4-trifluoroethyl ester", is an intermediate for pesticides. It is used for the synthesis of new fluorine-containing materials. It is a colorless and transparent liquid at room temperature and is soluble in organic solvents such as water, ethanol, and benzene. Ethyl trifluoroacetoacetate has active methylene groups, which can form stable carbon anions.
